Today, Lebanon faces a humanitarian crisis of staggering proportions. Following the escalation of air strikes that began on March 1st, 250,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in South Lebanon. This represents nearly 5% of the country’s total population, now displaced from more than 150 villages south of the Litani River. 87,000 are settled in 257 shelters around Lebanon
Our Immediate Response:
Offrejoie has been at the forefront of this response, mobilizing volunteers to ensure displaced communities are safe and cared for immediately following the onset of the strikes. Leveraging the Flora Shelter, which we established during the conflict in 2024, we were fully operative within 24 hours.
* Current Impact: We are currently hosting 850 guests, including individuals with special needs.
* Our Philosophy: We aim to integrate internally displaced persons (IDPs) through a foundation of trust, empathy, and unconditional positive regard, ensuring a transition defined by dignity.
* Infrastructure: Our facility is already equipped with essential shower and bathroom units obtained through our 2024 donor network.
Holistic Care and Ongoing Efforts
Beyond physical provisions, Offrejoie is committed to the long-term well-being of our guests:
* Psychological Support: We are actively providing psychological care for children at the Flora shelter.
* Education: We are organizing online schools for children within the shelter to ensure their education continues despite the displacement.
* Medical Coordination: In partnership with the Syndicate of Pharmacies in Lebanon and the Beirut Municipality, we facilitate regular visits from medical teams and provide necessary medication supplies.
