Lebanese Food Bank Association

Ever since October 2011, Lebanese Food Bank has been working hard to fight hunger and raise awareness about the tight relation between food waste and poverty in Lebanon. LFB is committed to saving the lives of less fortunate Lebanese citizen without discrimination based on religion, political affiliation, geographic location, or race.

LFB’s mission is to eradicate hunger nationwide by delivering food to the vulnerable, ensuring nobody is left behind; Before the Coronavirus outbreak, this was mainly done through collecting dignifying food from partners, restaurants, hotels, caterers, supermarkets, and other events (e.g. social gatherings, weddings etc.)

LFB started small then enormously grew through the years, especially after the economic collapse that has pushed countless Lebanese citizens into poverty. In 2021, 82% of Lebanese citizens are trapped in multidimensional poverty and are struggling for bare necessities. As for extreme poverty, it registered an increase to 34% in 2021 (ESCWA Statistics).

In the aftermath of the terrible events of August 2020, LFB partnered with more than 145 selected institutions and organizations nationwide to channel the donations raised for that cause. As part of its response, LFB planned and executed several projects divided by sectors of intervention (i.e. Rehabilitation, Food Security and Refurbishment).

A handful of generous donors have been the main stakeholders for humanitarian projects nationwide. ALAM Foundation, SEAL, AL FANAR, Empower Lebanon & École Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) were the sponsors for 5 most recent projects.
