Access to Health Care

Our Access to Health Care Program works to reduce the prejudice that transgender people face in the health care system. We strive to re-engage the transgender community with culturally competent health care providers.
Fair Employment

Transgender and gender non-conforming people face tremendous obstacles to securing fair and steady employment. Our Fair Employment Project works to end workplace discrimination against transgender and gender non-conforming people.
Educational Equity

Discrimination and violence are a pervasive aspect of the educational experience for many transgender students. Our Educational Equity Program works to ensure that transgender students have safe and equal access to educational opportunities.
Housing & Shelter

Transgender people often have difficulty finding and keeping homes and apartments because of discrimination. Our Housing and Shelter Project works to protect transgender people from housing discrimination.
Sex-Segregated Facilities

TLDEF works to ensure that transgender and gender non-conforming people can safely access sex-segregated facilities such as bathrooms and fitting rooms, where they are often subject to discrimination, harassment, and even arrest.
The Name Change Project

By ensuring that transgender people have adequate legal representation when seeking name changes, TLDEF's Name Change Project ensures that they can successfully negotiate the legal process and move forward with their lives.
Other Issues

TLDEF combats discrimination against transgender people wherever it arises. From public places to private employers, TLDEF is working for transgender equal rights.
