Hurricane Melissa has intensified into a category 5 storm as it approaches Jamaica and the Caribbean, where forecasters expect it to create unprecedented damage and destruction. In Jamaica's case, it is anticipated that this hurricane will be the strongest to hit the island in 175 years.
Myriad USA is activating a response fund for its local disaster network and working with trusted partners in their efforts to support communities and provide aid to Jamaica and other impacted islands in the region. Our current response partners are listed below. We will continue to update this page as the situation unfolds and needs evolve across the region.
The National Conservation Trust Fund of Jamaica supports disaster reduction and mitigation activities and works with grassroots communities that have limited access to resources.
Youth For Development Network, a Jamaica-based organization, will provide general relief activities to support women and young people.
The Bahamas Resilience Center provides mental health support, wellness programs, and disaster recovery services to help communities recover from disasters and build resilience across the Caribbean region.
