Pasadena Humane Society is an independent, donor-supported, non-profit animal welfare agency.

Our major animal welfare programs to promote humane treatment and quality of life for all animals include:

• Animal Care: food, shelter and veterinary services for over 11,000 wild and domestic animals every year.
• Animal Control and Rescue: officers conduct cruelty investigations and respond quickly to calls regarding stray, injured and abandoned animals.
• Adoption: placement of animals into loving, lasting homes.
• Barks and Books: reading enrichment program for children ages 5 to 12 makes reading fun, boosts confidence and encourages respectful, humane treatment for all animals.
• Behavior: cats, dogs and rabbits in our shelter are evaluated to ensure the right fit with new owners; enrichment activities help eliminate stress and prepare animals for a home environment. A Behavior Helpline is also available for pet/owner related questions.
• Boarding: low-cost boarding for dogs aged 6 months to 10 years.
• Canine College: behavior and activity classes offered to the public. Classes help owners to understand and manage their pets, enhancing the human/animal bond.
• Cat Nail Trimming Clinic: monthly “pawdicures” at an affordable price. Behavior advice, toys, and other services are also offered at the clinic.
• Disaster Response: emergency care, shelter and rehabilitation for animals in the case of a disaster.
• Food Bank: a collection of pet food for families with animals in need.
• Humane Education and Outreach: school children and adults learn about the humane treatment of animals and proper pet care; companion animals visit hospitals, youth homes and convalescent homes to provide pet-assisted therapy.
• Lost & Found: lost pets are cared for and reunited with their owners.
• Low-Cost Vaccination Clinics: Pasadena Humane hosts several affordable vaccination and microchip clinics for cats and dogs throughout the year to make basic veterinary care affordable and accessible to members of the public.
• Rescue Partnerships: Pasadena Humane partners with local rescue groups to give more animals a second chance; Chihuahua Airlift flies Chihuahua/Chihuahua mixes to shelters in the Midwest and East Coast
• Seniors for Seniors: enables people age 60 and older to adopt pets age 5 and older by offering financial assistance to our more mature adopters.
• “Shelter on Wheels” Mobile Unit: specially outfitted R.V. visits various locations in the community bringing adoptable animals and information on our Spay/Neuter services, area wildlife and other programs and services.
• Spay/Neuter Services: sterilization of every animal adopted from our shelter, Spay Neuter in Pasadena (SNiP) offers low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to the community to control pet overpopulation, free spay/neuter surgeries to Chihuahua/Chihuahua mixes and Pit Bull/Pit Bull mixes, the two most populous breeds at the shelter, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) offers free spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations (booster and rabies), and ear-tipping for feral cats throughout our service cities.
• The Pet Store: provides a great selection of quality items for your pet including: high quality food, flea control and personalized identification tags.
• Volunteer: over 750 dedicated animal lovers in this program help to socialize our cats and dogs, assist in our clinic, aid our customers, ride along in the Mobile Unit, work events, foster animals too young to be adopted or released, and assist with wildlife care.
• Wildlife Care: rehabilitation and re-release of sick, injured, or displaced wildlife.
