Help for children, families and elderly people in Ssumbwe, Uganda

About this Giving Opportunity

The Helping Hands Family supports children, families, elderly people and all people in need, majorly in Ssumbwe, Uganda. They built a primary school for about 400 children, they opened a clinic and a new clinic building is under construction, they support people with micro credits and encourage women with micro credits to support each other to be able to take care of their children.The pandemic shows a devastating impact on the people there. People who were already in need before the pandemic can't afford the food anymore, their mental health is suffering, parents can't care for the daily needs of their children anymore. Health care is poor in Ssumbwe. 

That’s why the Helping Hands Family helps where it’s possible – with food and medical care support. To be able to help as many people as possible, I created a donation opportunity if you feel that you would like to support this initiative. All donations will be transferred directly to our partners in Uganda who will take care of providing people with food and basic medical care.

A personal note: I support the Helping Hands Family, a small charity supporting Ugandan children in need, as volunteer and sponsor for about 5 years now. The Helping Hands Family is a small charity but has a huge impact on the life of the people in Ssumbwe, a small village in the surroundings of Kampala. I went there a couple of times in the last few years, I got to know the children in need who are able to go to school now as the Primary School that the Helping Hands Family constructed with Ugandan project partners is finished. We support a number of children within a sponsorship program that I’m overseeing since more than 4 years now and thanks to an increasing number of sponsors I see a lot of happy children growing up within a great educational environment they wouldn’t have access to without sponsorship.  Next to giving children in need access to Education, the Helping Hands Family supports a local partner with running a clinic, providing people with basic medical care.  - Elisabeth Scharwitzl
