Wellin21 - Water for Tanzania!

Global Wellness Challenge to bring clean water to Maasai Tribe in Tanzania!

About this Giving Opportunity

10% Funded

€5,677.69

Donated of €55,538.16

Lengiloriti is an area in the middle of a large, remote area outside of Arusha, Tanzania, home to the communities and families of 7 Maasai tribes, approximately 20,000 people.

Over the past 5 years, LinkedIn employees have been working with the Village Elders of Lengiloriti to build a Primary School that now has almost 500 students attend everyday and is supported continually by the government.

The Village Elders are very concerned about the community's clean water situation.  Historically, the Maasai are nomadic and "follow the rains" due to the draught patterns in the area.  But because they are so close to the National Parks (Serengeti and Tarangire), they can no longer move their families and their cattle as needed.  They must use "watering holes" and travel incredible distances to get unreliable and unclean water.

EVERY Dollar, Euro and Pound that we raise will be DOUBLED thanks to the generosity of LinkedIn and these funds will go directly to getting clean water to these 20,000 people (no overhead to the non-profit).  If we are able to reach our financial goal, we will build a long-term solution of a WATER WELL that will bring clean water for years to come!  If we cannot do this big project, we will use the funds as effectively as possible for cisterns to catch/hold water when it does rain and filters to clean the water that they have access to.

Thank you SO MUCH for your continued generosity!  If you are interested to travel (at your own cost) to meet this incredible community during Summer of 2022, please contact Anna Wright (awright@linkedin.com).
