Support Hurricane Ida Relief and Recovery

Support Hurricane Ida Relief and Recovery

About this Giving Opportunity

Hurricane Ida has caused widespread damage and flooding along the U.S. Gulf Coast, where it made landfall as a Category 4 storm. Your donation to the Hurricane Ida Relief Fund will provide emergency aid like food, water, medicine, and shelter to impacted communities. Once immediate needs are met, this fund will provide long-term assistance, with a focus on local organizations. All donations to this fund will exclusively support communities and first responders impacted by Hurricane Ida.

Challenge

Hurricane Ida is one of the strongest storms to hit Louisiana in more than a century. At least one person died, and more than one million people lost power after the hurricane landed in Louisiana with winds over 150 mph. Thousands are displaced from their homes and the situation is even more dire because of the COVID-19 strain on the medical system.

Solution

All donations to this fund will support relief and recovery efforts after Hurricane Ida. Initially, funds will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. The fund will later transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run primarily by local, vetted organizations in the communities affected in the United States.

How Your Donation Will Be Used

When you donate to GlobalGiving's Hurricane Ida Relief Fund, your donation will be used to:

  • Provide food and emergency medical supplies to people and animals
  • Support temporary relief and emergency supplies for displaced families
  • Provide support to front-line workers, like meals and gas
  • Meet other needs that emerge
