London Marathon - Cancer Research
About this Giving Opportunity
On Sunday the 3rd of October 2021 I will be taking part in the London Marathon, raising money for Cancer Research UK.
Over the past couple of years several of my very close family members have fought and continue to battle cancer.
Thankfully due to the incredible research into the disease, my wife Clara, my mum Irene and my mother-in-law Jenny are still here.
Unfortunately, the research needs to continue as people like my cousin's husband Steve lost his fight earlier this year. The cancer he had was quite rare and therefore under researched. It took his life, leaving his two little girls without their daddy, leaving Holly without her husband. It's so unfair!
Steve was a keen marathon runner. So, I have been training to run a marathon to see if I can raise some money for Cancer Research UK.
I don't anticipate I will be breaking any records for my marathon time. My running preparation has been largely fuelled by homemade beer and BBQ food.
