In Mexico, approximately 20k children are born each year with a heart defect, and the Mexican public health system has barely the capacity to attend to a third of them, most of the time late and with limited resources. For this reason, congenital heart disease is the second leading cause of death in children under 5 years of age in my country. The mission of Kardias is to enable highly specialized centers in Mexico for the care of children born with congenital heart disease, through the development of sustainable, transparent and recognized programs that guarantee access to excellent medical care focused on the comprehensive well-being of the patient.
