Remembering and Honoring Gene Lim

About this Giving Opportunity

As our community continues to process the heartbreaking loss of Gene Lim, we want to take a moment to honor the impact he had on LinkedIn and on so many of us personally. Having worked at LinkedIn for nearly a decade across our APAC and NAMER offices, Gene had a meaningful impact on our business and on the people around him.

In the Buddhist tradition that Gene and his family keep, the 49 days after death (7 periods of 7 days) is a significant period of transition between this life and the next. During this time, the family asks that friends and loved ones think of Gene, wish for him to let go peacefully, and transcend to the Western Pure Land / Land of Bliss / 西方极乐世界. This is where Gene has repeatedly expressed as the place he wants to go after this life.

His family encourages those wishing to honor Gene to make a donation in his name to a local Buddhist temple or a cause he cared deeply about, such as food banks, organizations supporting unhoused communities, or LGBTQ+ organizations. Donating time to these causes is equally meaningful. We have curated three causes that reflect his heart and home in San Francisco in this giving opportunity, or you are welcome to choose another cause.
