support the displaced Lebanese families

by Lebanese Food Bank Association

During these challenging times, the Lebanese Food Bank is working tirelessly to ensure that vulnerable individuals across Lebanon have access to basic nutrition and essential care.
Since the outbreak of the recent war, the Lebanese Food Bank has been providing three daily meals and snacks to displaced citizens in multiple areas in Beirut and beyond in various schools.
We have adopted eight schools in the Beirut area, providing 3 meals per day for those 1,628 displaced individuals.
This program ensures that vulnerable people receive nourishment throughout the day at a cost of $10,100 per day only in the Beirut area. Thanks to the solidarity of the community, translating into a monthly budget of $302,800, we are able to sustain our efforts.
In addition to Beirut, we are also covering other regions across Lebanon.
These regions continue to face growing needs, and we are actively working to expand our support in response to the increasing demand.
LFB Programs in this campaign consist of:
1. Hot meals distribution:
a. Donated Hot Meals: received from other NGO, restaurants or hotels.
b. Paid Hot Meals: bought hot meals to accommodate the increasing demand of meals. (cost of hot meal is $3)

2. Dry food distribution:
a. To households: send food boxes to families who are living in houses. This group of people are left alone and not considered among the receiving displaced persons. (cost of box $30)
b. To Kitchens: in order to support community kitchens, Lebanese Food Bank sends raw materials in order to expand the capabilities of the kitchens.
(mainly donations)

3. Paid Meals:
a. Croissant: for breakfast easily prepared in the early morning (cost $0.7 per piece).
b. Manakish: for breakfast easily prepared in the early morning (cost $0.7 per piece).
c. Snack: for kids and all the time, received by donations.
d. Sandwiches: perfect choice for dinners (cost $1.5 per sandwich).
e. Fruits: we try to provide one fruit per day and most of the times, donations (cost $1 per piece).
LFB contribution: In the first three days of the crisis, 14,652 meals were distributed to numerous beneficiaries, primarily in Beirut. Starting on September 27, 2024, we will extend our support to more displaced individuals across Lebanon.
Thanks to the trust of our donors, LFB has been able to save nearly half of the costs on purchases. It's important to note that the indirect costs of transportation and staff salaries are not included in these savings calculations.
