Donated of $12,000.00Ali, current LinkedIn TAE Manager, is running the NYC Marathon this fall on behalf of America SCORES New York, along with her sister (former ASNY Executive Director) and brother (former LinkedIn employee). This is a personal challenge, along with a passion project. Ali and Shannon are both former D1 athletes who are now both postpartum moms. Call us crazy, but what better way to come back to yourself than train for a marathon?! Tommy is now a full-time comedian with a desire to give back, and we're all planning to run the race together :)
Soccer was a central force in all of our lives...for Shannon and Ali it carved a path to college, and Tommy was dragged along to more of our games than he cares to remember. We hope that this sibling trio can help bring the joy of soccer to more young New Yorkers by running for ASNY. And when we're headed over that Queensboro bridge, we will all be thinking..."we like to win, we play for fun, we lose together but hardly ever!"
America SCORES New York is a social justice youth development organization that brings soccer, poetry and civic engagement after-school programming to almost 1,000 youth who attend public schools across West Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, the Bronx and Brooklyn. It's a free program for these young poet-athletes and the soccer pillar is the dominant vehicle - it is very much recreational and very much focused on social justice, racial equity and social emotional learning. We serve as a driving force in promoting fair play, self-expression, commitment and teamwork for youth, helping them develop the skills necessary to lead successful lives off the field and outside the classroom.
