A2SV | Africa to Silicon Valley is a nonprofit Tech Academy and Incubator dedicated to empowering Africa's brightest minds. We provide free, high-quality education to talented university students, equipping them with the skills to tackle critical challenges in Africa through technology. Our partnerships with global tech giants like Google, Palantir, Databricks, Bloomberg, and Amazon open doors to life-changing opportunities for African talent.

By removing financial barriers, we enable students to develop crucial problem-solving and software engineering skills, preparing them for success in the global tech industry. Our graduates not only secure jobs at leading companies but also create innovative solutions that drive economic progress across Africa.

Key Achievements

• Trained 800+ software engineers and tech entrepreneurs across 20 African countries, preparing them for careers in global tech.

• Secured 60+ job offers from top companies including Google, Bloomberg, and Amazon, validating the high caliber of our graduates.

• Created 180+ jobs, contributing to technological advancement in the region.

• Incubated 13 successful projects, with 13 more in development, driving real-world solutions for Africa’s challenges.

Our Mission

A2SV is building a self-sustaining tech ecosystem in Africa by educating top-tier talent and launching impactful projects. We aim to drive lasting change in Africa’s tech landscape, ensuring sustainable growth and success.

Our Vision

By 2025, we will have trained 1,000 students, scaling to 24,000 by 2030 and 2.6 million by 2040. Our vision is to prepare every student to tackle global challenges and create impactful, innovative solutions.

Our Unique Approach

• Tech Academy and Incubator: We train students in coding, problem-solving, and software engineering, along with key soft skills like communication and leadership. Graduates then move into our incubator, where they apply their skills to build digital solutions for Africa’s challenges. Our incubator thrives on this steady stream of academy graduates, continuously driving impactful solutions across the continent. 

• Free High-Quality Education: We offer top-tier tech education at no cost, unlocking the potential of all students, not just the top 1%.

A2SV Annual Hackathon

The A2SV Annual Hackathon is Africa's largest tech competition, gathering the continent's brightest minds to solve real-world problems through coding and innovation. In 2024, the hackathon attracted nearly 5,000 participants from 48 countries, showcasing Africa's immense tech talent. The event begins with workshops on generative AI, hackathon dynamics, and idea generation. 128 teams then compete in the quarter-finals, a 50-hour virtual hackathon, with the top 32 projects advancing. In the semi-finals, selected teams refined their projects with continuous feedback from mentors. The Grand Finale brings the top 8 teams to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for an all-expense-paid in-person event, where they compete for a $30,000 prize pool and present their projects to the public, investors, and a distinguished jury. Through this event, we drive collaboration, foster creativity, and inspire the next generation of tech leaders across the continent.
